I’m a Ph.D student in Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Lately I’ve been thinking about the representation and iconicity of nature in an age of climate crisis, with a particular interest in how sonic and gestural languages relate to the image. My work is comparative and multidisciplinary, drawing on sound studies, environmental media, and environmental histories.

Prior to Penn, I completed my MFA at Pratt Institute where I explored interspecies communication futures through our relationships with plants, nature, and how we can recuperate possibilities for living in a planet-centered world.

I’ve also been a project manager and communications director; business owner and startup founder; editor and book designer. I ran a bookstore/community-space/creative-studio with Willa Blevins called PRINTtEXT where I got my start in design making cultural broadsheets, album covers, and books about soundscape ecologies.
