Drawing inspiration from the woven language of Anni Albers and Shelia Hicks while exploring indigenous ontologies, guided me in weaving a conversation with trees. A visual and tactile study made alongside my sound research, Listening With Trees

Contrasting the planned nature of weaving there was room for uncertainty — each row revealing the conversation one stitch at a time. The reverse side of the weaving reveals the many threads, a sort of mycelial and conversational residue. The process called forth concepts from Haraway’s messy contingencies, Tsing’s patches and assemblages, and Shannon’s uncertainty.
